are you struggling to recruit talent for your openings?

The Employer Resource Guide is a comprehensive overview of services and providers who can support employers as they seek to find, recruit, and retain talent. Click here to access the guide:

The Employer Best Practices team has identified four broad groups of available talent. Each group comes with its own strengths - and its own challenges. The challenges may be different than you’ve encountered in the past. However, employers who can successfully engage these potential workers will find a valuable source of enthusiastic, loyal employees who are eager to grow and contribute to your workplace. Learn more about each group below.

Immigrants

Thousands of immigrants come to Greater Cincinnati legally each year as refugees, students, and through other legal visa statuses. Many more would like to come.

Local companies are finding new and exciting ways to recruit, train, engage and retain our immigrant residents in their workforces. Reach out to NKY Works to learn more about their successes. Or check out this comprehensive list of resources below from Cincinnati Compass.

In recovery from SUD

The drug epidemic of the past two decades has left its mark on our workforce. As treatment and prevention resources have improved, thousands of people with Substance Use Disorders (SUDs) are now in active recovery. Meaningful work is an important part of their recovery process. Many employers are finding these “second-chance” workers to be their most dedicated and loyal employees. You can, too. NKY Works can connect you with organizations that specialize in supporting workers with SUDs. Start by exploring resources available through the NKY Office of Drug Control Policies, linked below.

Unengaged Young residents

There are about 6,000 people between the ages of 16-24 who are not in school and not working. Often called “opportunity youth,” their stories are as diverse as they are, but the bottom line is that they represent a great opportunity for employers.

NKADD operates a program called Youth First to identify these individuals and to connect them to work and training opportunities. Talk to the Youth First team about your talent needs and learn more about how you can get involved.
